On April 4, 2024, The International Institute for Trade and Development (ITD) organized the ITD Research Forum 2024, themed “Upgrading Thailand’s Gateway and MSMEs’ Export.” Mr. Suphakit Chareonkul, Executive Director of ITD, delivered the opening remarks. Mr. Narongchai Akrasanee, Mekong Institute Steering Committee Chairman and Chairman of Khon Kaen University Council, delivered a special talk on “Development Directions for Transport Infrastructure in the GMS Region.” Ms. Jittima Nakamano, Director of the Bureau of ASEAN Economic Community, Trade Negotiations Department, Ministry of Commerce, also presented a special talk on “Developing the Role of Transport Sector to Promote Border Trade.”
The ITD proposed accelerating seamless connectivity in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) countries through the Cross-Border Transport Facilitation Agreement (CBTA). This agreement aims to establish common measures and rules to facilitate effective cross-border movement of people, goods, and services.
