On 26 November 2024, the International Seminar on UNCTAD’s Digital Economy Report 2024, titled “The Environmental Impact of Digitalization and Its Implications for Trade and Development,” was successfully held in a hybrid format at the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC) and via Microsoft Teams.
The seminar was co-organized by ESCAP, ITD, and the ASEAN Studies Center at Chulalongkorn University, with opening remarks delivered by Ms. Rupa Chanda, Mr. Suphakit Chareonkul, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Sineenat Sermcheep. Dr. Shamika N. Sirimanne from UNCTAD presented an overview of the 2024 report, highlighting key trends and challenges in balancing digitalization with sustainability.
A panel discussion, moderated by Mr. Sudip Ranjan Basu (ESCAP), brought together experts, including Dr. Supakorn Siddhichai (DEPA), Mr. Vitaliy Alexandrov (Kazakhstan), Ms. Atsuko Okuda (ITU), and Mr. Anthony Watanabe (ESCAP-SBN). The discussion focused on regional collaboration, green technologies, and inclusive digital growth.
