Mr. Manu Sithiprasasana, Executive Director, along with Ms. Sirikan Prasertying, Director, Office of International Cooperation, attended the Advancing South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Sustainable COVID-19 Recovery: “Towards a Smart and Resilient Future”, between 12-14 September 2022 at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) collaborated with the Government of Thailand to co-host the Global South-South Development Expo 2022 (GSSD Expo 2022), which is an annual event to promote discussion on how South-South and triangular cooperation can best support recovery efforts, especially in addressing extreme poverty, food insecurity, vaccination inequality, and other global challenges, and to identify, highlight, and facilitate the development and strengthening of specific multistakeholder.
On September 12, 2022, Mr. Manu Sithiprasasana attended the UNCTAD Thematic Solutions Forum GSSD Expo 2022, chaired by Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi, a former UNCTAD Secretary General, at CR3, United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand. The objective of the Forum is to provide the opportunity for governments, international organizations, and academia to reflect and debate on the role of South-South economic integration in the post-COVID recovery of developing countries. During the Forum, two of UNCTAD’s newest products on South-South Cooperation were unveiled to help developing countries recover sustainably from the COVID-19 shock as well as to build resilience through successful climate adaptation. These products can help in a variety of ways, including by increasing South-South financing, establishing SSC for trade and industrial recovery, and strengthening regional cooperation.
Lastly, on September 14, 2022, Mr. Manu Sithiprasasana also participated in the Global South-South Development Expo 2022 Networking Night at Vithes Samosorn, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the Thailand International Cooperation Agency displayed its development.
